The Dakota Prairie Grasslands (DPG) was formed in 1998. It consists of four U.S. Forest Service Ranger District offices that manage four National Grasslands: • North Dakota • South Dakota WebArea: 10,215,000 acres or 15,960 square miles. This landscape component includes the mixed-grass prairie of the Missouri Coteau and associated wetlands. Combined with the Drift Prairie, most of North Dakota is dominated by mixed-grass prairie.
